About Us
Vetservice.co.nz Limited began in September 2000 with a website offering to vet practices throughout New Zealand. The website offering created a low barrier to entry into the veterinary market, and it was the goal to integrate additional business initiatives to the vets over time.
The opportunity came in July 2002 to acquire NZVet Ltd, which was a franchise group offering vets marketing services for a set monthly fee. With the acquisition of NZVet, came an increased vet practice membership base, along with increased revenue as well as increased overhead.
In November 2002, Vetservice.co.nz took over the management of Carevets, which was the competitor to NZVet, which also offered vet practices marketing services with a national branding strategy.
By bringing the three groups together, (Vetservice.co.nz, NZVet and Carevets) it formed a very strong veterinary membership base, which created Vetservice Marketing Limited that now trades as The Vetservice Group. The NZVet brand still remains today on a few practices around the country and the CareVet brand has been handed back to its original owner who now utilises it independently from Vetservice.
The Vetservice Group is the most successful veterinary marketing organization in New Zealand history. Currently the membership sits at 96 veterinary practices. The formation of the Vetservice Group has given the critical mass to go on and develop national activities such as Animal Health Board Contracts that deliver value to the member practices as well as create additional revenue streams for the group.
